I've installed EventCalQ (as well as EventList, obviously, and the sample data), and displayed above the calendar is a series of errors:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/insidetacoma/public_html/components/com_eventlist/helpers/route.php on line 87
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/insidetacoma/public_html/components/com_eventlist/helpers/route.php on line 96

As well, when clicking on an event date, when the event is displayed, above it are the following errors:
Warning: imagepng() [function.imagepng]: Unable to open '/home/insidetacoma/public_html/images/eventlist/events/small/ipod-mini-blue.png' for writing in /home/insidetacoma/public_html/components/com_eventlist/classes/image.class.php on line 121

Any ideas of what's up?

This is described in the FAQ and in several posts on the forum (and in the FAQ on the Eventlist website).
You need to create a menu link to the Eventlist component (even if it's in a menu you don't display). Then the warnings will go away.

Is it necessary to make a menu link to every event?
I tried making an menu link that was not published to Categories Layout but I still get this error. There are several menu item types that you can choose from. How do I know which one to select?

Any of the Eventlist types should be OK for the menu item. It's all related to the fact that the Eventlist component needs an ItemID number which you get when you create the menulink.
Your other errors are related to the Eventlist component and images.

What I noticed was that the calendar would display an error unless the menu item was published. This made a link show up on my Main Menu which was undesirable. I am sure I read in the forum somewhere that the menu item didn't need to be published or in view for this to work.
What I did next was delete the link I made in my Main Menu, and created a whole new menu just for EventList. I selected not to publish it because I didn't want this menu to appear on my site. I then created a menu link. I discovered that I was getting the same type of error. I published the menu and tried again. This time the calendar appeared without errors and my events are showing up. The new menu is not showing up on my site despite publishing it, just like I wanted. I'm not sure why it doesn't show up because it is published.
You should really consider creating some sort of basic installation instructions for this program. It would really cut down on the numerous repeated questions which you respond to with a copy and paste.
I would be willing to help you out on this if you like.
Thanks,
Rob

Agreed - having to create a menu link for each and every event added to the system is unwieldy - is this on the slate to correct for the next release?
I haven't had the issues Rob describes with not publishing the link, but having to perform another step to get the calendar to not throw errors is faintly ridiculous! At the very least, you'd expect the system to not create site-stopping errors if this step is not performed...
