Would it be possible in the meantime to have the events shown in the calendar pull one category only? - For example, the bottom or top ID category from those assigned to each event? this would stop the multiple events showing at the very least for now.

Thanks

That's what I'm looking at. I thought there would be a nice neat way to do this in the SQL but there isn't which makes it a real pain.

Maybe by next week.

Just wanted to mention that I am currently using SH404SEF 1.0.19 234, Eventlist SVN 1.1 1071, Joomla 1.5.11, CalendarModuleQ Developement V.44 and SEF EXT for Eventlist 1.0Stable.

For the most part, the SEF extension for eventlist 1.0 works, although it does put some additional things at the end of the URL which need to be cleaned up in the long run, these are causing some issues with calendarmoduleQ Dev. 44, in that the URL's being built have this kind of thing on the end: parade.html?cid=35, and, the calendarmoduleq if set to go directly to the event, post this at the end: parade.html&cid=35 (? is &) causing a 404. - I know there really needs to be a new SEF EXT for eventlist 1.1 to properly function, perhaps this will be of some assistance to those that put one together when eventlist 1.1RC is released.

hmmm... any new information on the fix for the bug where the same event shows multiple times in the calendar module if the event is in more than one category? (for the svn 1.1 eventlist)

The only way I can do it at the moment is to make sure users click the top category along with their other category selections, and only show the top category events in the calendar but i would prefer them not to be able to add their events to top categories at all and get the calendar to call from the subcats. This is a bit of a nightmare if the user doesnt realise that they should select the top category aswell.

I don't mean to pester! just looking to see if anyone had any news on this?

thanks

paul

Sounds like you found a similiar workaround as I, I had further trouble, because my first 20 cats & subcats are geographical, and the next 20 cats are types of events. I too wish not to use "top" categories, like "music" for example, but "blues" or "rock" subcats.

I too told the calendar to show certain cats only - mainly 21 and above, did not even think about the "top" cats to be honest. (is there not an option to stop users from posting in top cats in the backend of eventlist? - hmmm, prob not)

I ran into a small snag with the moduleQ calendar when I hit category "40" - its not showing this category, so there may be a limit on the number of cats you can select from to "show", or a limit on the top catID as such.

You could always write a nice FAQ for your site explaining all this But really, We can't complain, it is afterall still in developement... - it would appear that its quite an undertaking to have the multiple categories implemented... there will more than likely need to be some kind of control put on categories, to identify them as "control" type cats... per your issue, marking "top" cats as not to let users select them.. and as well, marking a cat as being more important than another one..

The issue is more than likely how can you tell the backend, when selecting a category, that one particluar category of MANY, is going to have a special attribute? (like, use this category for the calendar) - When the select drop down is shown, cat id's are not shown in the back or frontend (why would they normally?) - but, if they did, you could perhaps then have an input box and checkbox like above - "use this catid for the calendar display" and you could simply enter in the ID of the cat you wish the calendar to display with.
